Disability in the Church
In this House of Learning, we explore disability not as a problem to be solved, but as a vital part of the human story and the life of the church. This conversation invites us to rethink common assumptions about ability, independence, and “normal,” and to consider how Scripture presents human worth as grounded not in productivity or strength, but in shared dependence and belovedness.
Drawing from lived experience, theology, and the life of Jesus, this House of Learning challenges the idea that disability is primarily a deficit. Instead, it frames disability as a lens that reveals the truth about all people: that we are finite, vulnerable, and deeply in need of one another. The discussion presses the church to move beyond accommodation toward genuine belonging, where people with disabilities are not objects of ministry but indispensable participants in the community.
This House of Learning is an invitation to listen, to learn, and to allow our understanding of faith, community, and flourishing to be reshaped by those too often pushed to the margins.
